For Post Secondary Students

WeTogether   Young Adult Scholarship
  • WeTogether Young Adult Scholarship
    The goal of WeTogether Scholarship program is for post-secondary students who are enrolled in Canadian Universities or Colleges, and to assist the next generation of Jane and Finch area community leaders with financial support during their academic year. It is available for all post-secondary students who meet our program eligibilities regardless of race or religions. The program supports 5-7 students annually with $1,500 per student.
  • Eligibility
    – Post-Secondary Full-time Students who currently enrolled in Canadian Universities or Colleges with minimum average of 70% or B-
    – Age between 18 and 35 inclusive – driver’s license or phone bill to be brought for the interview
    – Place of Residence within Jane & Finch area – M9L, M9M, M3J, M3K, M3L, M3M and M3N using FSA (first 3 digits of the postal code) – driver’s license or phone bill to be brought for the interview.

     – Prizes: $1,500/student
     – Award Ceremony: Nov. 17, Friday

    The goal of WeTogether Scholarship program is for secondary students, and to assist the next generation of Jane and Finch area community leaders with financial support during their academic year. It is available for all secondary students who meet our program eligibilities regardless of race or religions. The program supports 4 students annually with $500 per student.
  • Eligibility
    – All students enrolled in grades 9-12 in secondary schools located in the following postal code areas.
    – Students enrolled in a Secondary Schools located in the following postal code areas
    M9L, M9M, M3J, M3K, M3L, M3M and M3N using FSA (first 3 digits of the postal code)

     – Prizes: $500/student, 4 students in total
     – Award Ceremony: Nov. 17, Friday

Topic 1: Does social media do more harm than good?

Social media is an integral part of our daily lives.  The posts never stop and for most people it is their first go-to in the morning and the last thing before dropping off to sleep.  We see what others are doing and feeling and follow them on the roller-coaster of their experiences with highs and lows, laughter and sadness.  Disconnection is not an option.  Does this make social media harmful as it potentially consumes ones time and thoughts or is it beneficial as we are in touch with the happenings of the world?  In 300-500 words, tell us your thoughts on whether social media does more harm than good.

Topic 2:  Does one need to graduate from high school to be successful?
The need for education is often ingrained into our minds from a very young age.  We are told we have to go to school to learn and get a good education so that one can find a good job.  Is a good education a requirement to finding a good job and being successful?  Many jobs require that one has graduated from a post-secondary institution but can one make a name for oneself with limited education?  In 300-500 words, tell us your thoughts on whether one needs to graduate from high school to be successful.
